We wish to congratulate Dr Uchenna Rowland Onyeizu on his Ezeji title conferment
EZEJI TITLE IN ALA NGWA

Ezeji title conferment.
The Ezeji title is a highly respected and prestigious honor in Igboland, not one that can be conferred on just anyone. In the olden days, a man’s wealth was measured by the number of yam barns he possessed, along with his livestock, wives, and children. Though times have changed slightly, the title still holds great significance. Before a farmer can be conferred with the Ezeji title, he must possess certain qualities. He must have a variety of yam species stored in his Oba Ji (yam barn) and be capable of feeding the less privileged in his community. He must also be married with children, who assist him in farming and in the production of yam. The Ezeji title ceremony typically takes place between the months of November and April. Once all the requirements are met, the aspiring title holder will invite members of his kindred to inspect his Oba Ji. If there is an elder or existing Ezeji (King of Yam), he will offer guidance on the next steps to take in the process.
The kindred will present him to the council of Ezeji title holders, declaring that their son has fulfilled the necessary requirements for the title to be conferred on him. A date will be fixed for the ceremony, and friends, relative and his well wishers will be invited to witness the occasion. He will prepare assorted food made with yam and a special ofe mgbam (Pounded melon seed) in large quantity for the guests. He will present fowls, goats, and palm wine, which will be used to bless his Oba ji (yam barn). [On the day of the ceremony, all the guests will arrive dressed in traditional attire, ready to dance and jubilate with the newest Ezeji]. The Oba ji will be blessed and officially opened by the Ezeji title holders, after which he will be crowned an Ezeji.
A 21 cannon gun salute will be fired to mark the significance of the occasion.
